Z is not a common letter; in fact I believe it is the least commonly used letter in the English language. Yet of the thirty pitchers who started a major league baseball team's opening day, five of them had names containing a Z: Zito, Zambrano, Vazquez, Hernandez, Smoltz.



And when did you figure that one out?

Listen, you -- don't make me put a hex on Bartolo Colon. He's on my fantasy team (like the aforementioned vaZqeZ), so he's clearly on thin ice.

The resolution of this anomoly is that z IS common en Espanol, especially in last names, seeing as to how a terminal "ez" is to Spanish as a seminal "Mc" is to English.
