Is there a course in journalism school where the media larvae are specifically taught how to write well-meaning drivel? Or does it permeate the entire curriculum? What is it that motivates the Mercury News to publish an editorial and headline it "Peace may be possible if Hamas can change"?

Is that supposed to be profound? Isn't any X possible if person or group Y who is virulently opposed to X can change? If Pat Robertson were elected president, would the Merc's write an editorial titled "Expanded abortion rights may be possible if right-wing Christians can change"?
