Lessons Learned From History (San Jose Mercury News letters page edition)

I haven't posted in eight days, Murky News letter writers. Got anything easy?

My grandchildren should be glad if Europe, Arab republics, Iran or China don't adopt the Bush-sanctioned pre-emptive doctrine, some day turning it on us. If there is good reason, we should, with congressional approval, defend ourselves as needed. However, saber rattling, as this administration does routinely, has all nations treading on eggshells. We are further than ever from solving the important problems plaguing humankind, not the least of which is simply getting along.

Yeah, because preemptive attacks on a certain European country would have worked so badly in, say, 1935.

Ok, thanks!
