The latest boondoggle to result from the stimulus bill is $900 million spent to construct high-speed rail from Borden to Corcoran in rural California.
If you're from outside the Golden State, don't feel that you have an inadequate knowledge of our cities. I've never heard of Borden (which is not even incorporated) or Corcoran (which does have a famous resident -- Charles Manson). But now I have heard of them, so, Hope and Change!
What's really hilarious is Central Valley politicians huffing and puffing about the waste of money -- because their boondoggle didn't get built instead. Making a Merced-to-Fresno line sound sane by comparison: Yes We Can!
